L. Waters, Sr. is a fellow traveler, a fellow journey taker, a seeker and lover of God. His experiences with God are many. Initially born with double-thumbs on his right hand, he remembers a day when his friends, the young men who lived in his neighborhood, caught him in a neighbor’s corn rows and attempted to pull his double thumbs apart.  He also remembers initially not being able to enter the Army because he had double thumbs.  The the surgeon who later examined him, gave him a choice.  He could keep the double thumbs on his right hand which did not look like everyone else’s thumbs, but it did work, or he could have the original thumb removed and get a prosthetic thumb that would not function as well as the original.  He chose the latter.  The doctor signed the papers allowing him to enter the military.  Both of these experiences are early indications of the need he discovered of having to make difficult choices in life.
